This document is the original (family's copy) of the bill of sale for the land from the Hudson's Bay Company to the Brierley family in 1928. The Brierley's sold the land to the Government of Canada for the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site in the 1970s.

Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site (Canada) : Rocky Mountain House, in what is now south central Alberta, was established by the North West Company of fur traders in 1799. That same year the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) established a post nearby at Acton House. The two posts competed for pelts until 1821 when the two companies merged. The original North West Company post was closed and Acton House was renamed Rocky Mountain House. The Hudson's Bay post, already rebuilt once in 1835, burned down in 1861. Its replacement was completed in 1868 but with the rapid decline of the fur trade HBC abandoned it in 1875. After campaigning by local residents in the 1930s, Rocky Mountain House was declared a national historic site by the National Parks Branch. Parks Canada acquired the land in the 1970, buying the property from the Brierley family, who had purchased it from the HBC in 1928. The site recognizes a series of trading posts that were the link between the Pacific Slope fur trade and the eastern supply routes. 1130
