Fonds consists of textual records in the form of personal and family documents, university records, identification papers, personal and general correspondence, and administrative material related to his time working within various Ukrainian organizations such as the Ukrainian National Federation, the Ukrainian Canadian Committee, and the Kalyna Credit Union, among others. There are also speeches, published material in the form of draft articles and manuscripts, and other records related to his career working within the Ukrainian-Canadian community.

Also included is a scrapbook album consisting of photographs related to the Ukrainian National Federation's 25th anniversary, the Ukrainian Canadian Committee Convention, and other graphic material of related individuals and events.

Pohorecky, Michael, 1899-1964 : Born in Hladykivtsi (now in Western Ukraine) on December 21, 1899, Michael Pohorecky was wounded while serving in the Ukrainian armed forces during the War for Independence (1918-1921). Following the War, he pursued his studies at both the Ukrainian Underground University in Lviv and the Ukrainian Free University in Prague, before later immigrating to Canada in 1926, where he worked in Edmonton as editor of the Ukrainian-language newspapers Zakhidni Visti and Vidrodzhennia. He was the co-founder and editor of the Ukrainian-language newspaper Novyi Shliakh (New Pathway) for more than three decades (1930-1964). Pohorecky held many executive positions within various national organizations, namely the Ukrainian National Federation, the Ukrainian National Publishing Co. Ltd., the Ukrainian War Veterans, and the Ukrainian Canadian Committee, including at the local level with the Kalyna Credit Union and the Winnipeg Press Club, among others. He published numerous articles on Ukrainian nationalism and was recognized as a leading nationalist ideologue in Canada. Michael Pohorecky passed away on July 26, 1964 and was buried in Winnipeg. His wife, Amelia Pohorecky passed away on August 14, 1982.
