Canada. Dept. of Communications. Internal Audit Bureau : The Internal Audit Bureau (DIAB) reviewed and evaluated departmental functional areas, responsibility centres, activities, programs, and projects. The audits it developed and implemented were not necessarily of a financial nature, but also of effectiveness and efficiency of management. The Bureau, as a directorate-level entity, reported to the Services Sector. In 1981, the unit became known as the Program Evaluation Group, reporting directly to the deputy minister.

Canada. Dept. of Communications. Program Evaluation Group : Successor to the Internal Audit Bureau, the Program Evaluation Group (PEG) evaluated departmental operational activities, programs and projects. In 1981, it reported directly to the deputy minister, however, a reorganization in 1985 saw it reporting directly to the Corporate Policy Sector as a directorate-level entity.
