The sub-series consists of correspondence, memoranda, speeches, reports and other material documenting Carl Lochnan's work as the European representative of the National Film Board (NFB) operating out of London and co-ordinating the promotion of NFB films in Europe. The files contain correspondence with head office (Len Chatwin), but also with other NFB offices, with filmmakers coming to the United Kingdom and with U.K. filmmakers working for the NFB, as well as documentation relating to the NFB presence at international film festivals, and other business of the overseas office.

Among the documents are an undated farewell card signed by Lochnan's colleagues in Ottawa, including Len Chatwin, Donald Brittain, Laurence Hyde, etc.; undated notes on Colin Low's film 'Circle of the sun', an exchange of memos with External Affairs about Norman McLaren's films 1953; correspondence with James Beveridge 1953; a report on how to counter Communism with NFB films 1953; an Edinburgh menu autographed by John Grierson, Arthur Elton, Stuart Legg, etc.; a memo on the NFB's relationship with other Canadian government representatives in London 1954; correspondence from A.W. Trueman, Norman McLaren (writing about film festivals in South America), R. E Johnson (Saskatchewan Supervisor), Caryl Doncaster and Henry Strub 1954 and from Dorothy Macpherson 1961; correspondence from colleagues back in Ottawa relaying office gossip, correspondence about European film festivals, and documentation on the Lochnan's social life in London.
