CKSODescription:Audio recording of radio and television broadcasts documenting the tentative settlement of the strike against Inco in Sudbury by Local 598 of the International Union of Mine, Mill & Smelter Workers (Mine Mill) and the Inco smelter at Port Colborne by Local 637 of Mine Mill. The strikes, launched on September 24, 1958 against Inco after a series of provocative actions by the company, was settled when the union obtained an offer that compared well with the Stelco and Algoma settlements earlier that year. Among those heard are: Ontario Premier Leslie Frost; Sudbury Mayor Joseph Fabbro; Sudbury MPP Gerald Monaghan: MPP for Nickel Belt Rheal Belisle; Mike Solski, President of Local 598; and Louis Fine, Chief Conciliation Officer for the Ontario government.Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
