Illus: [Four views of city buildings: Central School, Presbyterian Church, R.C. Mission, St. John's College.], This bird's-eye view of pre-railway Winnipeg shows the city when it had a population of approximately 6,000. The combined railway - highway bridge shown on this map was not completed until 1881. Its inclusion on this map, along with the 10,000 population figure, indicate the boosterism of the artist or his employer. (See: Winnipeg in Maps). Note that the title has been rearranged in the title block above. On the map the title reads "Winnipeg, incorporated in 1873 Manitoba. 1880". There is a numerical index to fifty-five of the major buildings of the city.
