The sub-series comprises 26 files arranged in alphabetical order by subject matter. The documents within each file are arranged in chronological order. The main portion of the records deals with the 1981 time period. The records dated 1980 or 1982 either dealing with the closing or the continuation of environment cases and issues were brought forward to Fulton's attention. These files document Fulton's activities and roles in his second year as the NDP's National Environment Critic as well as work and membership in environment task forces.

The sub-series contains the following record types: Incoming correspondence and attachments; Fulton's and staff's replies; notes taken during telephone conversations; clippings and photocopies of newspapers and periodicals; departmental reports; information pamphlets; government departments news releases; minutes of Canada - U.S. Environment Council reports prepared by consultants; reports prepared by the Library of Parliament Research Branch; transcript of speeches of Hon. John Robarts, Minister of the Environment; and international register of Potentially Toxic Chemicals Bulletin; Transcript of Radio Programs and excerpts of Hansards.
