Sub-sub-series consists of files of the Toronto office of the Association of Commercial and Technical Employees relating primarily to organizing campaigns carried out in Toronto and south-western Ontario. The workplaces involved in the organizing campaigns included financial institutions, insurance companies, the Toronto Transit Commission, computer data processing firms, and other white-collar and technical employers. The files document organizing strategies used in an office environment, such as visits to the homes of prospective members and research for contact information in employer documents (e.g., staff newsletters and telephone directories). Employer anti-union strategies (such individual meetings, pay increases, and forming employee associations) are also well documented. The files contain correspondence, reports, organizing literature, minutes, legal papers, lists of organizing contacts, membership records, notes, an organizer's log, employer documents, and other material.
