Canada. Canadian Army. Canadian Pioneer Battalion, 2nd : The 2nd Canadian Pioneer Battalion was organized in August 1915 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel W. M. Davis. Its authorization was published in General Order 151 or 22 December 1915. The battalion was mobilized at Guelph and St. Thomas and recruited in Eastern Canada among miners, lumbermen, railwaymen, mechanics, engineers, surveyors and carpenters.

The battalion embarked at Halifax on 6 December 1915 aboard ORDUNA, disembarking in England on 14 December 1915. Its strength was 28 officers and 1040 other ranks. The battalion arrived in France on 8 March 1916. It was later reinforced by the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion. The 2nd Canadian Pioneer Battalion was absorbed into the 4th, 5th and 6th Battalions, Canadians Engineers in May 1918 and was disbanded by General Order 149 of 15 September 1920.
