Canada. Canadian Army. Canadian Labour Battalion, 4th : The 4th Canadian Labour Battalion was organized at Seaford in January 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.W.H. Mckinery. Most of its personnel were drawn from reserve battalions in England. The battalion arrived in France on 15 March 1917. Its strength was 12 officers and 976 other ranks. The 4th Canadian Labour Battalion was redesignated as the 2nd Canadian Infantry Works Battalion on 28 March 1918. The 2nd Canadian Infantry Works Battalion formed the 2nd and 4th Canadian Infantry Works Companies in September 1918.
