An outline of the course of events from August 1940 to 1941. Touched on are life in wartime London, air raids, and aerial defences during the Battle of Britain. Shots of damage to the House of Parliament. The King and Queen visit ruins, as does Churchill. Several sequences throughout the film on German armed might, Fortress Europe, the Luftwaffe, panzers on the move, U-boats, and the battleship Bismarck being launched. Views of a naval battle and the sinking of the Bismarck during the Battle of the Atlantic.~Several sequences on wartime industry in Britain, Canada, and the United States. Ernest Bevin and Lord Beaverbrook are shown. Canadian troops train in the British Isles as the Forestry Corps cut down trees.~F.D. Roosevelt is sworn in for another term. Lord Halifax arrives in Washington. Prime Minister King and President Roosevelt meet at Ogsclenburg, and La Guardia visits Ottawa.~Shown too are Free French forces, General Weygand, de Gaulle, US troops in Iceland, Japanese troops in China, and Mussolini and Hitler meeting in Brenner Pass.Sequence on naval battles between the Royal Navy and the Italian fleet, Wavell in North Africa, Italian defeats, POWs, and Haile Selassie returning to Addis Ababa.~In Canada, corvettes are launched. King meets with Roosevelt at Hyde Park. Shots of a Boeing B-19 taking off and in flight. Sequence on convoys, ships sinking, etc. British troops are shown in Syria and Russian troops march to meet the invading Germans as the British intensify aerial attacks agains the Reich. <37mn>
