Fonds consists of oral history interviews conducted across Canada in 1988 and 1989 by Julie White with Canada Post workers, shop stewards, local and regional directors and executives of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. The interviewees, mainly women, focus on women's participation in CUPW, part-time versus full-time work, collective bargaining, paid maternity leave, working conditions at Canada Post, strikes, union activities and the relationship between the letter carriers union and CUPW and other similar topics. Fonds also contains two interviews with CUPW National President, Jean-Claude Parrot, who discusses his work at Canada Post in the 1960s and 1970s and the issue of paid maternity leave.

This oral history project was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the information gathered was used in White's report entitled, Mail and female : women and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.
