This accession consists of one test cover, postmark dated 1974, being one of the first 100 pieces of live mail run through the optical character reading and indexing machine, then undergoing final testing in Ottawa. The cover bears one example of Scott # 634 tied to the cover by the slogan cancellation "Postal Code - Code Postale" and bearing the date "Ottawa, Ontario - 14-VIII-1974". The cover also bears the return address (upper left) "J.G. Fultz - Director, Coding and Mechanzation - Post Office Department - Ottawa, K1A 0B1".
