Fonds consists of oral history interviews by Rick Stow with labour, political and left-wing personalities in Canada. Included are interviews with Shirley Carr, Allan Blakney, Bob Rae, William Kashtan, Marcel Rioux, Donald MacDonald, Robert Carlin and many others on a variety of historical subjects such as the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, Norman Bethune, the Cold War, the Mine Mill Union, the New Democratic Party, socialism and other labour-related topics. These recordings were made during the research phase for an audio documentary on the history of Canadian Labour's political involvement. Fonds also contains oral history interviews by Rick Stow of Native leaders such as Gary Potts, Elijah Harper, Albert McBride, Joseph Katt and others regarding the status of Native land claims and the many court decisions engendered. Some of these interviews were used in the documentary entitled, Teme-Augama and Saugeen Anishnabais : an oral survey of traditions.

Stow, Rick, 1950- : Rick Stow was born in 1950 and has been a freelance documentarian and longtime broadcaster on CJTT radio in New Liskeard, Ont. Between 1986 and 1994 he conducted many oral history interviews with personalities in the trade union and socialist movements. He also conducted interviews with members of the Anishnabek people and other Native leaders about their land claims and the many court cases these claims engendered. Many of these interviews formed the basis for radio documentaries on labour and left-wing activism in Canada and the traditions of Native bands. Rick Stow was also the author of the book of his poetry entitled One eye on the road, one finger on the stopwatch. NA Collection File (AV Archives).
