The collection consists of gumbichromate photographs taken by Robert Taillefer and Gérard Poulin, and documenting people, activities, and architecture of the old quarter of Quebec City; portraits by Robert Taillefer include: Stompin' Tom Connors (1974), Gerherd Herzberg (1975), Count Basie (1973), Yousuf Karsh (1973), Phyllis Diller (1976), Raquel Welsh (1976), Gordon Lightfoot (1975), John Diefenbaker (1978), B.B. King (1975), Yvon Deschamps (1974), Celia Franca (1976), Buffy Ste.Marie (ca. 1975) and Pauline Julien (ca. 1976).

Taillefer, Robert : First an assistant to Yousuf Karsh, then a free-lance photographer and a professor, Robert Taillefer teamed with Gerard Poulin in 1980. A number of his photographs on the theatre have been published in magazines such as Billboard and Vogue. Taillefer and Poulin have organized several exhibitions, and published a photographic essay entitled "Eugene Shoestring". Residents of Cornwall, they are experimenting with a number of techniques and produced in 1984 two publications on Quebec City and Upper Canada Village. Their gumbichromate prints on Quebec City, made in 1981 and 1982, respond to the challenge of transforming repetitive colour into a wide variety of hues that complement the feeling they want to evoke from the image.
