Series consists of records created and acquired during the tenure of Dr. W. K. Lamb as national archivist and national librarian. The subject content touches on areas related to those institutions as well as to the private historical and archival interests of Dr. Lamb, and his involvement with various professional organizations together with the operation of the Public Archives of Canada and its London and Paris offices. Subject files include, for example: Canada Council, 1960-1968; Champlain Society, 1955-1964; Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada, 1958-1966; the Royal Commission on Government Organization, 1961; and the Royal Society of Canada, 1956-1968. Volume 18 includes the memoirs of Lamb, entitled Keeping the past up to date: 35 years with manuscripts and records.
