Fonds consists video recordings of oral history interviews by Michael Ostroff of Kalmen Kaplansky about his work with the Joint Labour Committee to Combat Racial Intolerance after the Second World War and its accomplishments in the field of unfair employment practices and other discriminatory practices that were common in Canada before human rights legislation. These interviews were conducted during the research phase for a potential film or video by the Labour Film Project.

Ostroff, Michael : Michael Ostroff is a documentary fimmaker and director whose interests include human rights, the environment, the peace movement, the labour movement and other social issues. He was a member of the of the Ottawa Disarmament Coalition from 1982 to 1989. The CBC television documentary entitled Canvas of Conflict was produced by Sound Venture Productions and directed by Michael Ostroff. Other productions he was involved in are an NFB film entitled Bridging the River of Silence and the videorecording entitled Memory and Muscle: The Postal Strike of 1965. As a member of the Labour Film Project, he produced and directed the videorecording Working Side By Side: The Struggle for Human Rights. Michael Ostroff lives in Ottawa. Various Internet sites.
