Handford briefly outlines details of her ancestors, the Handfords of Renfrew and the Young family, her maternal ancestors of nearby Sand Point. She talks about events of her childhood in Renfrew such as crossing the Ottawa River to Norway Bay by steamboat in the early 1900s for camping excursions. She recalls several prominent business families of her childhood and the background of several heritage sites in town. Other topics include her father's pioneer photography work in the 1890s, her own education at Queen's University and her subsequent teaching career begun in 1923. To conclude, Handford recalls two tragic events: the carriage accident that injured Mrs. O'Brien, wife of lumbering magnate M. J. O'Brien, and the explosion at the munitions plant at Sand Point which killed several relatives and townspeople in 1913.Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
