Canadian National Railways. Public Relations. New York City Office : Canadian National Railways, Department of Public Relations, New York City, Radio Scripts, 1957-1964. In 1957 Canadian National Railways' public relations department in New York City developed a series of radio programs designed to increase awareness of Canada in the United States. The series, "This is Canada", evolved over several years and included Canadian folk songs, historical vignettes, travelogues for each of the provinces, traditional recipes and so on. Scripts and recordings were distributed to American radio stations free of charge and at one time, close to 400 stations subscribed to the series which was repeated annually from 1957 to 1964.
