Fonds consists of oral history interviews of various people considered pioneers in private radio broadcasting in Canada. They include announcers, technicians, producers, sales personnel and others. Among those interviewed are: Jim Kidd of CJCL Toronto; Gord Atkinson of CFMO Ottawa; Dick Smyth of CFTR/CHFI Toronto; Marg Anthony, Pip Wedge and Johnny Esaw of CTV; Rai Purdy; Vic George; Allan Slaight of Standard Broadcasting; Gordon Sinclair Jr. of CJAD Montreal; Bill Luxton; and Harry Boyle. Fonds also includes an episode of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's series entitled Assignment, featuring interviews with broadcasting pioneers; and oral history interviews with current and former employees of Selkirk Communications Ltd. concerning their involvement in private radio broadcasting in Canada.

Canadian Communications Foundation : The Canadian Communications Foundation was established in the 1960's by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) to "commemorate throughout Canada the development in Canada of electronic communications." Over the years, books, research grants and a possible Broadcast Museum were the main thrusts of the group. With the advent of sophisticated computers, the Foundation developed a new goal consistent with its original objectives: To chronicle and document, in sight and in sound, the "History of Canadian Broadcasting", by establishing an electronic data base, available to Universities, Colleges, Schools, Libraries, news media and communication centres across Canada and elsewhere, giving free access to all persons interested in the development of Broadcasting and related services. While initiated by the private sector, it is intended to include all forms of broadcasting, including the CBC, cable, BBG, CRTC, TVO, Radio Quebec, Access Alberta, etc. The Canadian Communications Foundation expresses its thanks to Ryerson Polytechnic University for its dedication and assistance in compiling and organizing this database.
