Accession consists of central registry files created by the Atmospheric Environment Service, Pacific Region. Administrative files cover a range of activities and subjects including, but not limited to A.E.S. committees such as the Departmental Regional Director's Committee, the Pacific Sub-Committee on Oceanography, and the Western Series Directorate Management Committee; cooperation and liaison with the World Meteorological Organization; federal/provincial agreements; and information services. Operational files document the establishment and overall policies of A.E.S. weather centres and climatological stations; Environmental Protection Operations such as the Western Canada Long Range Transport of Atmospheric Pollutants program; projects such as West Coast offshore drilling, the Sea Use Council and the Environmental Assessment and Review Panel; communications; and satellites. Also included in the accession are reports published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Pacific Region Technical Notes. Principal documentary forms include correspondence, agendas and minutes, reports, government publications and applications for permits.

These records were originally held in British Columbia. They were transferred to the National Capital Region in 2016 and are available for consultation there.
