The name was changed to Sao Paulo Tramway, Light and Power Co. Ltd. some time in 1900. In 1901 annual report, company named Sao Paulo Tramway, Light and Power Co. Ltd. Therefore the name was changed prior to 1901. Under letters patent issued July 12, 1912, the company was amalgamated with the Rio de Janiero Tramway, Light and Power Company to form the Brazilian Traction, Light and Power Company. In 1912 William Mackenzie brought all the components of the Brazilian utility companies under the control of one holding company, Brazilian Traction Limited.
