Description:

The first part of a CBC television live coverage begins with a general explanation of the technical aspects of the CBC coverage of the Quebec Referendum is given by Knowlton Nash and followed by the reporters' opening remarks to set the scene. The text of the referendum question is scrolled on screen and the early results are displayed. David Bazay, from the Yes headquarters, and Don MacPherson, from the No headquarters, report on the mood in each camp. Peter Mansbridge, in Ottawa, reports on the mood on Parliament Hill and speculates on Trudeau's reaction and the possibilities of a constitutional conference. Barbara Frum, in a panel setting, interviews Sheila Finestone, concerning the Yvette group for the No side; Emile Genest, an actor from the No Camp; and Jean-Marie Cossette, former President of the St. Jean Baptiste Society, who supports the Yes side.
