Live coverage of the final judgement of the Supreme Court of Canada on the federal government's constitutional resolution to patriate the British North America Act, with host Peter Mansbridge and a panel of constitutional observers, namely Stuart Langford (CBC's legal affairs correspondent), Peter Russell (political scientist of the University of Toronto) and David Soberman (Professor of Law at Queen's University). From the courtroom lobby, reporters Mike Duffy and Whit Fraser conduct interviews with some of the spectators including Jean Chrétien (Minister of Justice), Tom Wells (Ontario Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs), Senator Eugene Forsey, Michel Robert (federal government lawyer), Members of Parliament Lorne Nystrom, Jim Fulton and David Crombie, Allan Williams (Attorney General for British Columbia), and representatives of aboriginal people. In an opening statement at a news conference following the release of the court ruling, Justice Minister Jean Chrétien claims a decisive legal victory for the government in its efforts to bring home Canada's constitution without the agreement of the provinces.
