Sequences on giant antennae, engineers manning consoles, and shots of the large aluminized balloon parked in a dirigible hangar.~Sequences on various means of communication: a cable layer is shown at work in the Atlantic; microwave transmission towers are silhouetted against the arctic sky and snow. Communication by satellites is discussed, with graphics illustrating the principles involved.~Engineers working at a missile control system lauch a rocket carrying the deflated balloon. More shots of men at consoles. A diagram explains what the balloon is supposed to do; microwave antennae scan the skies. Finally, the echo of the signal sent from a station in New Jersey is recaptured at Goldstone, California. A telephone conversation via the balloon satellite is then successfully completed. <14mn 30s>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
