Description:

Pre-broadcast version of an interview with The Reverend Dr. Donald MacMillan, a retired Presbyterian Minister and former Royal Canadian Air Force Chaplain, about: the early settlement by predominantly Gaelic-speaking Scots immigrants of the area of Glengarry, Stormont, Dundas and Prescott counties of Ontario.~The clergy were expected to speak both English and Gaelic, even in the church where MacMillan worked in 1930. The early settlers also kept their culture alive through religious ceremonies and services using Scottish music, fiddles and bagpipes. The introduction of organ music was controversial because it was not part of the Presbyterian tradition. Reverend MacMillan wrote a book about religious history in Glengarry entitled "The Kirk in Glengarry".
