This film illustrates the numerous diseases potatoes are subjected to and proposes methods for their treatment. It discusses methods of control used by commercial growers and how these can be useful to the small-scale gardener. One of the first intertitles reads, "The annual loss to the potato crop from disease is about 1/3. By careful treatment this loss can be saved." The first disease addressed is Late Blight; the effects are shown in shots comparing healthy and unhealthy plants, with some close-up shots. Early Blight is examined in a similar manner with several shots of affected plants. Regular spraying with Bordeaux mixture is recommended for these two afflictions. Other diseases whose effects are shown and treatment explained include Tip Burn, Black Scurf (or Rhizoctonia), Common Scab, Leaf Roll and Mosaic. The film makes use of detailed intertitles as well as many shots showing the effects of the diseases and the correct method for their treatment. The film ends with an endorsement of Certified Ontario Seed. The last intertitle reads, "Why not make every effort to produce only First Class Potatoes?" <9mn 1s>
