Uneditied material consisting of the opening portion of an interview of Senator Therese F. Casgrain. In her conversation with interviewer John David Hamilton, Casgrain provides insights into her privileged background in French-Canadian society as the daughter of Sir Rodolphe Forget; talks about her work for women's suffrage in Quebec during the 1920s and 1930s; and discusses her early political career with the CCF in the 1940s and the 1950s.~Among the personalities mentioned during the interview are: her husband, the late Honourable Pierre Casgrain; Sir Wilfrid Laurier; Sir Robert Borden; Mauriece Du Plessis; Pierre Trudeau, whom she knew as a boy; Gratien Gélinas; and René Levesque. Issues touched on include: English-French relations in Quebec; Women's Liberation Movement; War Measures Act and FLQ crisis; Quebec's Quiet Revolution; Quebec's political, social and economic developments in recent years; and Canadian politics with respect to the French-Canadian community.
