The finding aid provides file numbers and file parts, subject descriptions, and outside dates. Accession consists of Field Office Records for the Maniwaki Agency, Restigouche Agency, Sept-Iles District Office, and Fort Smith Agency. Records of the Maniwaki Agency are general operational records; records of the Restigouche Agency are central registry files and band council minutes; records of the Sept-Iles District Office are central registry files and school files; and records of the Fort Smith Agency are central registry files. With the exception of Maniwaki Agency's general operational records, all other records are files classified according to the modified duplex numeric system. Records of the Maniwaki Agency include Timber Permits; Dues Reports; Timber Licences; Truck Scale Slips of Logs; "Feuilles de Mesurage"; Land Lease and Sales Records; Miscellaneous Agency Correspondence; Sundry Department Letters; and other Sundry Records. Custodial history:

These records were transferred directly from the Ottawa Federal Records Centre to the National Archives. However, it appears that these disparate field office records were artificially brought together by DIAND for the convenience of storage at the OFRC. The four agencies themselves were never administratively linked in a way that would justify the amalgamation of their records on the basis of provenance.
