Series consists of records created and/or maintained by the Hudson Strait Expedition. The records include an official report of the expedition with supporting photographs and three ships logs. The official report consists of three separate reports, one from each of the three bases established by the expedition; Port Burwell (Base A), Nottingham Island (Base B) and Wakeham Bay (Base C). The report of each base is arranged under the following headings: monthly abstracts, daily diaries, patrol reports, photographic log, equipment, buildings and general living conditions. A duplicate copy of the entire report is included. Also included are ships logs for the S.S. Ocean Eagle, the tug St. Anne, and an unidentified ship.

Canada. Hudson Strait Expedition : In 1927 a concerted effort was undertaken by the Departments of Marine and Fisheries, Railways and Canals, and National Defence to study navigation through the Hudson Straits. Three bases were established by the expedition: Port Burwell (Base A), Nottingham Island (Base B) and Wakeham Bay (Base C). For two years, military and civilian personnel conducted meteorological surveys, scientific research, and aerial photography. During that time, moreover, the expedition interacted with the native population, often requiring their assistance around the bases.

There may be related textual records in the Department of National Defence Fonds (RG24). A film of the Hudson Strait Expedition 1927-28 is in the W. A. Steele Collection.
