Canada. CGS Polar Bear : The CGS Polar Bear became part of the expedition when it was purchased by Stefansson in August 1915. This was shortly after his party was 'found' by the Polar Bear after a long ice journey. Before the purchase, the CGS Polar Bear was an auxiliary schooner engaged in trading and fishing.
