Dinah Christie talks to Afro-American singer, Harry Belafonte, who discusses the role of the black man in American politics. 3. Film montage on street parades. 4. Street interviews conducted across Canada, about who should be Canada's next Prime Minister. 5. A look at munitions trade. Samuel Cummings, American millionaire and world's biggest private dealer in the weapons of war, discusses his sale policy and the business of purchasing arms plundered in war; seq. on Cumming's arms factory. Gideon Rosenbluth, Canadian economist and author of "The Canadian Economy and Disarmament", talks about the Canadian government's activities in promoting the sale of weapons abroad. Robert Reguly, Toronto Star correspondent, criticizes the Canadian government for profiteering from the Vietnam war by selling war materials to United States, and of taking a hypocritical attitude towards peace and disarmament. Peter Desbarats interviews Minister of Defense Production, Charles Drury who discusses Canada's arms production sharing agreement with the U.S. 6. Film report on pollution in Sudbury, Ont. - its degrading effect on the community's physical and mental well-being, and the progressive eroding of its countryside. Includes comments by smelter workers at Inco, Sudbury's steel industry and major pollutant, who express their concern about their health being endangered by long hours of inhaling sulpheric acid fumes; Bill Hrinivich of the Sudbury Pollution Committee; J.R. Meakes, Editor of the Sudbury Star; Ken Valentine, Local 500 United Steelworkers; Dr. G. Trobridge who describes the ill effects of sulphur dioxide on the body; and seq. showing CBC camera crew sneaking into the plant to get firsthand view of the smelting operation and its hazardous working conditions.~In the studio, Ken Lefolii and Tim Kotcheff question two Inco executives about their complacent attitude in remedying this serious problem.
