A CARPENTER BY TRADE: Documentary film on the story of Jack Butrie(?), a man who walked from Edmonton to Calgary wearing a cloak & carrying a heavy wooden cross over his shoulder. The camera follows Butrie on his long journey & at his rest stops where he pauses to share moments of his personal sufferings & feelings about his fellowman. In these moments, he also recalls the event of his arrest when he first set out to walk across the city of Edmonton, & was temporarily confined to a mental hospital after being apprehended by the RCMP on the outskirts of the city. The film also includes voice-over comments & interviews by reporters, police authorities, & onlookers.
