National Transcontinental Railway Branch Lines Company : The Rouyn Mines Railway Company was incorporated under Quebec Act, 15 Geo. V., Cap. 110 of 3 April 1925 to build a line from a point on the National Transcontinental railway to provide rail transport to the copper and gold mines in the area. Arrangements were made with the Noranda Mines Ltd. whereby the mining company would subsidize the railway should its operations result in a loss. On 26 September 1925 the railway was leased to the Dominion Government, which entrusted its operation to Canadian National Railways. On 11 March 1926 the name was changed to National Transcontinental Railway Branch Lines Company. A 42.8 mile line from Taschereau to Rouyn was opened on 1 January 1928. On 8 June 1954, National Transcontinental Branch Lines Railway Company was amalgamated with the Canadian National Railway Company. RG30 General Inventory
