Lower Laurentian Railway Company : The St. Lawrence, Lower Laurentian and Saguenay Railway Company was incorporated under Quebec Act, 41 Vic., Cap. 48 of 9 March 1878 to construct a railway from a point between Batiscan and Three Rivers to Lake St. John. On 12 July 1888 the name was changed to the Lower Laurentian Railway Company. In actual fact it was built from Rivière à Pierre on the line of the Quebec and Lake St. John Railway to Proulx Junction on the North Shore Railway, a distance of 39 miles. It was opened for traffic in 1891, leased to the Quebec and Lake St. John Railway in 1895 and sold to the Great Northern Railway of Canada in 1900. RG30 General Inventory
