Ogdensburg Transit Company : The Ogdensburg Transit Company was incorporated on 27 December 1888 under the laws of the state of Michigan to operate a shipping line on the Great Lakes. The majority shareholder was E.C. Smith, president of the Central Vermont. On 1 February 1889 it was leased to the Ogdensburg and Lake Champlain Railroad Company, which was at that time leased by the Central Vermont. It appears to have carried on business and owned at least one ship. As the record ceases at approximately the time the lease of the Ogdensburg and Lake Champlain Railroad was abandoned, it is possible that the Ogdensburg Transit Company went with it.
