Pembroke Southern Railway Company : This company was incorporated on 27 May 1893 under Ontario Act, 56 Vic., Cap. 96, to construct and operate a railway from Pembroke to Douglas. A line of 21.09 miles was built from Pembroke to Golden Lake on the Canada Atlantic. Immediately after completion on 1 September 1899 the railway was leased to the Canada Atlantic. In 1906 the Canada Atlantic Railway Company acquired all shares in the Pembroke Southern. Ownership subsequently passed to the Grand Trunk and later the Canadian National. Its corporate existence finally came to an official end when, on 11 June 1956, the Pembroke Southern Railway Company amalgamated with and took the name of Canadian National Railway Company.
