Peterborough and Chemong Lake Railway Company (1888-1892) : The Peterborough and Chemong Lake Railway Company, the second company to take the name, was incorporated under Ontario Act, 51 Vic., Cap. 74, of 23 March 1888. (The first company of the same name was incorporated on 30 May 1855 and sold at public auction on 15 August 1866.) The former was formed to take over, on behalf of Grand Trunk interests, the 8.25 miles of line between Peterborough and Chemong Lake that had been built by the defunct Cobourg, Peterborough and Marmora Railway and Mining Company. This was opened for traffic in 1889. In 1892 the Company lost its corporate identity when it amalgamated with the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada. RG30 General Inventory
