Galt and Guelph Railway Company : The Galt and Guelph Railway Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Great Western, was incorporated on 10 November 1852 (Statutes of Canada, 16 Vic., Cap. 42) to construct a railway from Galt to Guelph. This line, totalling 15.20 miles, was completed and commenced operations in September 1857. It was taken over with the rest of the Great Western properties by the Grand Trunk in 1882, and its corporate existence terminated when it formally amalgamated with the Grand Trunk in 1893.
