The series consists of York and Lela Wilson's business correspondence and financial records largely relating to exhibitions, sales, donations and loans of York Wilson's artwork. Most of the correspondence is with art museums and commercial galleries, including the Art Gallery of Ontario, National Gallery of Canada, Carleton University Art Gallery, McMaster University Gallery, Roberts Gallery, Thielsen Galleries, Moore Gallery, Wallacks Gallery and Manuge Gallery. Arts organizations such as the Arts and Letters Club, the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and the Ontario Society of Artists are also represented in the files. There is a small amount of correspondence relating to the purchase of a house in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
The series also documents Lela Wilson's own work. There is correspondence with various publishers, including Carleton University Press, about her biography of York Wilson and correspondence relating to her charitable work fundraising for the Central Hospital in Toronto and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Included are three of Lela Wilson's income tax forms.
The files are arranged alphabetically by organization or subject. Other business correspondence can be found in the Exhibitions, publicity and related materials series and the Commercial projects series., Additional records received in 2006 added further correspondence with organizations and cultural institutions such as the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Art Gallery of Ontario, the London Regional Art Gallery, Museum of Modern Art, National Gallery of Canada, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery. Of note is correspondence with the University of Lethbridge preparing for a major exhibition of mural studies by York Wilson. Also included in this accrual are ledgers from sales records from the Roberts Gallery (1975-1986) and sales and expenditures ledgers (1947-1984). Further records relate to the frequent gifts of York Wilson's artwork to Canadian institutions by Lela Wilson. These additional records are contained in volumes 418 and 419 under the Archival Reference number R4154.
