Fonds consists of contemporary correspondence with Gutzman's fellow members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force stationed in Siberia between 1918 and 1919. Correspondents include A.D. Dane, Henry Harwood, Cpl. Samson Littlewood, and C.A. Love.

Gutzman, Wally : Wally Gutzman grew up in Pembroke, Ont. He became a metereologist and in the 1940's worked at CAPO 10 Goose Bay, Labrador. His job was to forecast the weather for the Ferry Command pilots. In 1975, he was in charge of operations at the Canadian Metereological Centre in Montreal. He is married to Wanda and they have 3 children. His early interest in philately, Gutzman attributes to reading "The Hollow Tree" which appeared in McCready's "Popular Stamps" magazine and was later continued in the Canadian Philatelist. Other early influences came from the writings of Ed Richardson and Lew Ludlow. He is enthusiastic about cancellations, flag types, patriotic post cards, stamps and coin cards, as well as Canadian ships, Santa Claus and Halloween greetings. Gutzman wrote articles on perfins, squared circles, RPO's, flag cancels, and fancy cancels, while participating in study groups in military cancels, flag cancels and patriotic post cards. He is the author of "The Canadian Patriotic Postcard Handbook 1904-1914," published in 1985. Gutzman has been a member of the Rural Canadian Stamp Club from the Club's early years. Later, he became a member of the British North America Philatelic Society, the Canadian Philatelic Society of Great Britain and a founding member of the Lakeshore Stamp Club in the Montreal area.
