Textual records: The records are originals. Many of the pages are frayed on the edges and some have come loose from the scrapbooks.

Custodial history:

One of the pre-requisites for Newfoundland entering Confederation was that the Trade-marks registered under the Newfoundland Trade-marks Act would still be valid under the Canadian Trade-marks Act. In accordance with this, the Newfoundland Trade-mark Registers and associated files were transferred to the Trade-marks Branch in Ottawa in the 1950s.
