St. Clair Tunnel Company : The St. Clair Tunnel Company was created by the amalgamation on 9 November 1886 of the St. Clair Frontier Tunnel Company and the Port Huron Railroad Tunnel Company. The work on the tunnel and its approaches totalled 2.21 miles, commenced in November 1888, and operations were inaugurated on 19 September 1891. The capital of this Company and its two predecessors was owned by the Grand Trunk, and subsequently, Canadian National. On 31 March 1958, the St. Clair Tunnel Company amalgamated with and took the name of the Canadian National Railway Company. RG30 General Inventory
