Interview with John J. Chisholm, pioneer filmmaker, by Maynard Collins to be used as resource material in the National Film Board production, "Has Anybody Here Seen Canada?" which traces the history of Canadian filmmaking from 1939 to 1953. Chisholm, who started his film career as a stuntman in Hollywood, reviews his wartime experiences with Associated Screen News; recollects the early days of the NFB under John Grierson; and provides a personal perspective of government involvement in the Canadian film industry, touching on: its attack of the NFB during the postwar communist witch-hunt; the Canadian Cooperation Project; and the 1949 Massey Commission on National Development in the Arts, Letters and Sciences. Among the names mentioned are: Frank O'Burn; Ben Norwich; Ross McLean; Robert Winters; W. Arthur Irwin; C.D. Howe; Leonard Brockington; J.J. Fitzgibbons; Mackenzie King; Norman Robertson; N.L. Nathanson and Paul Nathanson; Gordon Sparling; and Arthur Gottlieb. Chisholm also mentions the film he directed about the Stanley Cup, "The Battered Mug".
