Canada Immigration Centre (Edmundston, N.B.) : The Canada Immigration Centre (CIC) in Edmundston, New Brunswick was a primary contact for all immigrants to New Brunswick other than those arriving with completed documentation, all visitors requiring special documentation, and all persons wishing to sponsor or guarantee the immigration of relatives abroad. Since a number of Ministerial powers have been delegated to the CIC level, these field offices can also issue and extend Minister's permits and issue permits to returning residents. Most CICs also undertake investigation of immigration irregularities, and represent the Program at formal inquiry hearings involving refused claims, deportations, and exclusions.
