Sub-sub-series consists of files and file parts in the Third Central Registry system which have been segregated because they contain one or more documents originally classified to "secret" or above. Some incorporate entire "SF" series files, amalgamated with the 5000 block in the late 1970s. (See the entry for RG76-B-2 for details). Most files in the 5000 block contain a proportionately smaller quantity of classified documents than their counterparts in the SF series.

The subjects covered in these volumes include the revision and interpretation of immigration legislation; immigration security and law enforcement procedures; routine "Stage B" (security) screening of prospective immigrants, generally and at specific foreign posts; measures taken against persons entering Canada who are classed as criminals, terrorists and other "controversial, undesirable or prohibited" persons; treatment of immigrants from specific countries or of specific occupations or classes (e.g. students, defectors, deserters, refugees) and of specific ethnic and religious groups (e.g. Doukhobors, Rastafarians, Chinese, Arabs, Jews, and North American Indians); and immigration security measures for special events, notably the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
