Series consists of files in block 8 of the Deputy Minister's registry system covering activities of the Manpower unit of the Department, created when certain offices of the Department of Labour were moved to Citizenship and Immigration by OCPC 1965-2283 of 22 December 1965 (becoming the Canada Manpower Division on 1 January 1966). Most of the records in this block were in fact created after October 1966 when the unit passed to the new Department of Manpower and Immigration.

Custodial history:

Most of the files in this series were created after October 1966 when the manpower unit passed to the new Department of Manpower and Immigration. The registry system was closed out after several years of use by the Department of Manpower and Immigration and the records were then transferred to the National Archives of Canada between 1968 and 1976.
