Canadian Human Rights Commission. Privacy Commissioner : In 1983 the Canadian Human Rights Commission's composition underwent significant changes. With the coming into force on 1 July 1983 of the Privacy Act, Part IV of the CHRA was repealed and the position of Privacy Commissioner, independent of the CHRC, was created. Ms. Inger Hansen, who had previously combined her responsibilities as Privacy Commissioner under Part IV of the CHRA with membership on the Commission, was appointed to this new position.
