This is a preliminary record, please consult the linked accessions. Under provisions of the Canada Water Act, the Inland Waters Directorate is responsible for a research and data collection program on Canadian fresh water quantity and quality. As the Great Lakes involve bodies of water shared by the U.S. and Canada, the International Joint Commission has shared responsibility.
