TavernerDescription:Documentary on one of the Department of the Interior's annual expeditions to the Canadian Arctic. Opening scenes are taken as the S.S. Beothic crosses the Davis Strait in the midst of innumerable icebergs. Greenlanders are seen coming ashore in colourful holiday attire. At the next port of call, on Baffin Island, myriads of dovekies are seen nesting. Views of musk-oxen on North Devon Island, photographed under exceptional conditions, and polar bears roaming the icy wilderness, are among the other glimpses of Arctic life shown. Naturalists preparing specimens for study and shots of polar bear cubs, as well as several shots of sandpipers hopping about the deck, are among the more unusual sequences. <11mn>Language:Silent with English intertitlesNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
